Short Wildlife Excursions Options
Bamburi Haller Park (1 to 2 hours)
Bamburi Haller Park is a product of the Bamburi Cement company’s effort, since 1971, to convert barren landscape of disused limestone quarries into vibrant and diverse ecosystem of forest, grasslands and ponds. The park offers a Wildlife sanctuary that is home to Hippos a buffalo, Elands, Oryx and a group of water birds like Eagles, Herons, Egrets, Cormorants and Kingfishers. Owls Banda that hosts a Verreaux Eagle Owl. Giraffe Feeding platform for feeding giraffes in the park, Crocodile Pens, home to over 90 crocodiles including juveniles
Shimba hills National Reserve (3 to 4 hours)
This reserve is rich in flora and fauna and hosts the highest density of African elephant in Kenya. Other animal species found in the area are Sable antelope, elephant shrew, bushy tailed mongoose and other small mammals like fruit bats. The forest is an important bird area and is endowed with forest birdlife while the grasslands hold localized species such as red-necked-Spur fowl, Croaking Cisticola and Zanzibar Red Bishop. The scenic Sheldrick Falls is also found here.
Mwaluganje Elephants Sanctuary (3 to 4 hours)
A community conservation sanctuary that was initiated to help prevent humans and Elephants conflict. The sanctuary cam up after community members decided to give up their cultivation land for the conservation of Elephants that constantly raided farms bringing them to a crossroad with the humans which led to tragedy most of the time. Today the members of community who donated their land depend on gate collections from tourists who visit the sanctuary since they could no longer do faming. the sanctuary is a breeding zone for the Elephants and visiting the sanctuary will not only be helping a good cause but also a leave you with fulfilling experience of viewing the gentle giants in the wild.
Colobus monkeys conservation (1 hour)
Colobus Conservation is a not-for-profit conservation organisation designed to promote the conservation, preservation, and protection of primates like the Vulnerable Angolan Colobus monkey (Colobus angolensis palliatus) and its coastal forest habitat in south eastern Kenya. The organization was established in 1997 in response to an outcry from local residents about the high number of deaths of colobus monkeys on the Diani Beach road.

Fort Jesus Museum & Mombasa Old town (1 to 2 hours)
build by the Portuguese in the 16th century the fort a UNESCO world heritage site was constructed to protect the port of Mombasa. The structure that still stands today with its features intact is a testimony on how the architecture work done then was amazing to stand the test of time. having been build on coral just at the shores of the Indian ocean.
Likoni Aids Orphanage (1 hour)
This orphanage is located in Likoni less than a kilometer from the ferry crossing channel in Timbwani village and presents a perfect opportunity to interact with children and come close to the community when you are the type who like to be close to children and social with people and have a few hours to spend in Mombasa and the adjacent regions.
